Functional Schematic

Under the ice surface are tubes through which an mixture of anti-freeze and water flows. A refrigeration unit cools the temperature of the mixture to approx. -10°C and pumps the mixture through the tubing. The surrounding area passes the generated cold energy direct to the ice surface.

Depending on the demands of the ice rink, the refrigeration tubing consists either of flexible AST Ice Mats made of EPDM or plastic pipes imbedded in cement.

EPDM Ice Mats

Flexible and able to fit the surrounding subsurface, extreme economical energy consummation, excellent ice surface. Suitable also for hill and curve terrains. Simple installation.

Plastic pipes

Installed and embedded in cement resulting in a very resilient refrigerated area.
